8r4d A the #summer fades and training slips into the odd season, we go out #running for a few last #runclub meets. Not many people out tonight so I don’t think we have many official weeks left.

8r4d With race season pretty much closed up for another year (at least for most of us) our #running adventures have resumed their normal short + sweet + coffee pattern. #summer it’s almost over… sigh. Today was a guys #runcrew s all the ladies seemed to be on vacation. That just means we talked more politics and told fart jokes than usual.

8r4d #halfmarathon start line #running

8r4d What with all this hiking I haven’t posted much about #running much lately, but this morning was the Edmonton Marathon #halfmarathon #race wherein I had volunteered as a pace bunny for what eventually became the 2:30 finishers time. It started off super foggy this morning, caught a ride with Lucas, shook hands with the founder of the Running Room store, ran for almost exactly two and a half hours (off by 11 seconds) and have been zonked the rest of the day. Oof!

8r4dsfeets A short water break on a long #running adventure

8r4d Despite being on my feet all day yesterday I still owed the #running gods a long run this morning. Only two weeks until the #halfmarathon so luckily the #rivervalley was still cool.

8r4d As much as my life should be full of free time, I still find myself needing to squeeze in #running training when I can, so a Friday morning 14k brought my through a couple big #rivervalley #hills with some nice sunny views of the valley and distant skyline.

8r4d It’s been a long weekend on my feet, a sixteen klick hike yesterday followed by a sixteen klick #rivervalley #running adventure this morning before the heat of the day kicked in. We made up a route on the fly, but it worked out well enough.

8r4d The #running season had been brutal this month between the #heat and the #firesmoke the latter of which is burning down parts of our beloved mountain park town of Jasper as I write these words. I’ve run in Jasper on multiple occasions and as much as I complain about a bit of smoke, there truth under those words is really me holding back the anger of those who deny humanity’s role in the destruction of our fragile planetary ecosystem and then wring their hands as we sit helplessly witnessing the consequences. We logged a 7km run this evening at a sparsely attended #runclub but with the ongoing high temps my heart wasn’t even into it very much.

8r4d An early morning #running sesh in 25C temps to beat the #heat for what is looking to be a 35C day and my planned route thru the shade was blocked off by a police zone in the woods and on a nearby path. Hmmm.

8r4d While most of the #runcrew was off in the mountains sweeping up the last couple legs of Sinister 7, a few of us stayed behind for some Sunday #running in the #rain followed by the regular coffee meetup.
